Groundwork’s Sustainable Business Membership provides organisations with a clear, supportive framework to better understand and reduce their environmental impact. Whether you’re at the beginning of your journey or building on existing progress, the scheme combines expert guidance, practical tools, and peer learning to help you make measurable change year on year.
Measuring what matters
A key step in improving environmental performance is understanding what impacts your organisation is having on the natural environment – be that air, water, land or local biodiversity – and taking action to manage and reduce these.
The Sustainable Business Membership annual assessment highlights what you’re already doing well and identifies clear, achievable steps to improve. Members receive a detailed report, a practical action plan, and a sustainability score – helping you measure progress and plan ahead with confidence. It’s a great tool to engage your team and to communicate your commitments to your customers and wider stakeholders.
Turning insight into action
Armed with expert support, members can take meaningful steps to reduce their environmental impact. Many businesses have already demonstrated measurable progress, including a 10% reduction in carbon emissions within a 12-month period.
Environmental action doesn’t stop at carbon. Simple, visible changes such as allowing on-site green spaces to rewild or installing green roofs can enhance biodiversity, improve local environments and contribute to wider sustainability goals.

Annual membership is £1,500 + VAT per year.
