A Powerhouse Behind the Corporate Sustainability Agenda

The brainchild of Dorset-based company, The Southern Sustainability Partnership, doors opened in 2016 on their region’s first Exhibition dedicated to corporate sustainability. A drive to support a reduction in the environmental impact of public and private sector organisations it is now visited by delegates from right across the country.

ast-forward to 2024 and the company now run one of the longest standing events in this space, hosting the brightest and the best from across the UK all eagre to showcase a plethora of products, services, technologies, innovations and expertise.

The powerhouse behind this event comprises co-director’s Anita Potten and Lynda Daniels, choosing to stand down from corporate positions to achieve their goal of educating the organisations and professionals, while providing them with the ability to get up close and personal to the solutions making their mark in that given year. A collective vision to champion corporate sustainability for organisations of all size and sector.

With over 26 years of combined experience, they embarked on a mission to transform advice into action—creating a tangible platform for companies to navigate and excel in their sustainability journey. The duo is responsible for a great many organisations making impressive inroads environmental impact reduction through resulting sustainability projects. Helping them achieve huge cost savings in running their facilities.

The event is now responsible for the reduction in the environmental impact of organisations, large and small, and across many industry sectors. Witnessing a vast array of sustainability projects coming to fruition, a fact that has made its founders extremely proud and the knowledge from which drives them forward year on year.

Held in and around the city of Southampton, for its ease of road and rail links, this Dorset partnership has moved the event from the home of Hampshire Cricket to the home of Southampton Football Club and back again for this, its 9th event. With a presence as a business now in both Dorset and Hampshire. Visitors can expect a hundred different exhibitions stands, a comprehensive speaker programme, a clean transport showcase – as well as its highly coveted A4 show magazine available in both hard copy and digital formats.

Over the years speakers at this event have included Google, Bank of England, Body Shop, Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment, World Land Trust and the Ellen MacArthur Foundation – pulling in visitors from some of the country’s largest corporations, SMEs and large charities, as well as government bodies, and public sector NHS Trust, Local Authority, Universities, Schools and Colleges.

And in 2024 they are supported once more by main sponsor Barratt Developments PLC as well as sponsors Nosy Creative and FleetEV.

Director, Anita Potten

An impressive background in telecoms, sales, and project management, Anita implemented her expertise in carbon reduction through experience in telecommunications technology. Her journey into corporate sustainability was further solidified through her role as director in a carbon reduction initiative for then Borough of Poole.

Director, Lynda Daniels

With extensive experience in marketing within the renewable energy sector, Lynda organised Dorset’s Green Knowledge Network for a number of years and joined Anita as director of the Borough of Poole’s Green PEA initiative.

Free to attend, with free parking, this year’s Expo takes place 10th October at the Hilton Utilita Bowl, Southampton and opens between 10.00 am to 4.00 pm.
